Tinubu Launches $3.05bn National Strategy to Fight Poverty and Boost Human Capital

President Bola Tinubu unveiled five landmark programmes worth $3.05bn to accelerate poverty reduction and deepen investment in human capital. Represented by the Finance Minister, the president inaugurated NG-CARES AF, SOLID and three HOPE initiatives at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. These projects target smallholder farmers, displaced communities, primary healthcare, foundational education and social protection. NG-CARES AF will receive $1.25bn in additional World Bank financing. SOLID will deploy $300m for internally displaced persons and host communities. The HOPE package of $1.5bn will strengthen primary healthcare services, support teachers and reform public education governance nationwide. Tinubu described the programmes as a coordinated national strategy that translates recent macroeconomic gains into improved livelihoods. He urged governments at all levels, development partners and agencies to ensure delivery and accountability for vulnerable Nigerians.
