Yoruba Coalition Accuses NEF, ACF of Backing Terrorism
The Oodua Nationalist Coalition (ONAC) has accused the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) and Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) of covertly supporting kidnappings and mass killings across Nigeria. ONAC challenged the groups’ silence during attacks that killed dozens of Yoruba in Kwara, Ekiti, Oyo, Kogi and Benue states. It noted they only spoke out after Yoruba agitator Chief Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) called for the release of a kidnapped mother and child. The coalition claims NEF and ACF serve as sanctuaries for retired Fulani officials defending ethnic hegemony. It warned their stance risks provoking further unrest and urged them to condemn all acts of terror, not just those of South West agitators. ONAC cited the Global Terrorism Index and research showing Fulani militias were responsible for nearly half of civilian deaths in recent years. It urged the two northern bodies to be held accountable for failing to stem violence.
