Pilot Dies, Two Troopers Injured in Pennsylvania Helicopter-Plane Collision

A small Cessna aircraft collided midair with a Pennsylvania State Police Bell 407 helicopter near Carlisle Airport on Wednesday night. The pilot, believed to be the only person in the Cessna, died in the crash. Two state troopers aboard the helicopter were injured after becoming briefly trapped but were rescued and taken to hospital. They are expected to recover. Police said the helicopter was conducting routine training when the aircraft struck its rear rotor area. Federal investigators are examining the circumstances and have not yet determined the cause of the collision.
