Large Taxpayers Face July 2026 Deadline for NRS E-Invoicing Integration

Large Taxpayers Face July 2026 Deadline for NRS E-Invoicing Integration

The Nigeria Revenue Service has stepped up enforcement of its electronic invoicing policy. All companies classified as large taxpayers must migrate to its digital invoicing platform by July 31, 2026. This requirement applies to organisations with annual turnover of at least ₦5 billion. By the end of Q1 2026, over 1,000 eligible firms had already completed registration and testing. To comply, businesses must register on the Merchant Buyer Solution platform, integrate their systems through approved providers, validate and test the setup, and transmit invoices in real time. Suppliers must issue only e-invoices with valid reference numbers. The NRS warns that failure to meet the deadline may lead to regulatory or legal action under existing tax laws. The digital invoicing initiative aims to boost transparency, curb revenue leakages and enhance tax efficiency.

It feels like the NRS has suddenly accelerated enforcement without much lead time for businesses.

I doubt this deadline will solve much when many large companies still battle basic connectivity issues.

Start auditing your current invoicing system now and schedule regular tests to ensure smooth integration before July 2026.
