Abia Police Arrest 17 Suspected Cultists Over Double Murder in Aba

Abia State Police have arrested 17 suspected cult members linked to the killing of two young men in Aba. On May 13 at Brass Road, a man was shot and hacked to death. Then on May 24 at Ehere near Opobo Junction, another victim was shot dead. Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit acted on intelligence to intercept the suspects as they moved to commit further crimes. Authorities recovered five handguns, live ammunition, cutlasses, an axe, a black beret and several mobile phones from the suspects. Investigation has concluded and the suspects will be charged to court. The Commissioner of Police reaffirms the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and urges residents to report any suspicious activity to their nearest station or emergency hotlines.
