Anambra Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu has begun a thank-you tour of stakeholders following his promotion to Assistant Inspector-General of Police. His first visit was to the palace of the traditional ruler of Awka, Igwe Gibson Nwosu. Orutugu thanked traditional institutions, residents, the state government and other security agencies for their cooperation during his tenure. The monarch congratulated him on the promotion and praised his leadership and contributions to security in Anambra. Orutugu, who assumed office as commissioner on February 10, 2025, was promoted alongside 12 other commissioners on July 1, 2026, and will soon proceed to a new assignment.
