GICN Alleges Police and Asabe Waziri Are Delaying Judicial Review in Unresolved Murder Case

GICN Alleges Police and Asabe Waziri Are Delaying Judicial Review in Unresolved Murder Case

The Incorporated Trustees of Global Integrity Crusade Network (GICN) has accused the Inspector-General of Police and Asabe Waziri of stalling their bid for judicial review. They want the final investigation report into an alleged 2010 murder involving Mrs. Shitua Aso. Filed in May 2024 before Justice Gladys Olotu, the case has suffered five adjournments. GICN says the police only filed a conditional appearance two years after the suit began and that Mrs. Waziri was improperly joined as a respondent. In January 2026, GICN asked the Chief Judge to reassign the matter to another judge. They argue this will speed up the hearing and serve the overriding interest of justice.

I wonder why the GICN believes the IGP and Asabe Waziri are intentionally stalling the judicial review – what motives could be behind this delay?

You're right to doubt their intentions. A case this serious shouldn't face unexplained delays.

Considering this involves a decade-old murder allegation, it does raise questions about the efficiency of both the police and the Global Integrity Crusade Network.

Are we sure this is a genuine delay and not just legal procedure taking its time? Judicial reviews can be notoriously slow everywhere.

A more transparent timeline of the investigation and clear communication from the IGP's office could help restore public trust.
