Mob Lynches Alleged ‘Colos’-Influenced Attacker After He Kills Two in Usen, Edo

On May 12, 2026, in Usen Community, Ovia South-West LGA of Edo State, a man believed to be under the influence of a substance known as Colos attacked and killed two people with a machete. Eyewitnesses said he beheaded his first victim on the street, then moved on to kill a second person before injuring Osaro Aragbala, a member of the Edo State Security Corps, during an attempted intervention. The suspect, identified as Wale Sunday, was subdued by security operatives but was overpowered and lynched by an angry mob. Police later recovered a bag containing what they suspect to be Colos at the scene. Officials confirmed that the remains of the three deceased have been taken to a mortuary and the injured corps member is receiving treatment in hospital.
