Otti Commissions Ultra-Modern Prof. Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal in Umuahia

Otti Commissions Ultra-Modern Prof. Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal in Umuahia — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Abia State just got a massive transport upgrade. Governor Alex Otti has opened the Prof. Nnenna Oti Central Bus Terminal in Umuahia. This multi-modal hub handles over 340 buses at once and features 62 industrial air conditioners, indoor lounges, 22 retail shops, a restaurant and an on-site motel. The terminal is also designed for Abia’s new electric bus fleet. It offers dedicated charging docks and digital arrival/departure boards. Built by Planet Projects, it rivals major airports in comfort and efficiency. Naming the facility after Professor Nnenna Oti has sparked political debate. The APC calls it a dangerous precedent while many citizens praise it as a tribute to integrity. In my video tour, I walk through every corner of the terminal and explore the electric buses. What do you think: was this the right tribute? Could this model redefine transport in the South-East?

You think this terminal will actually cut travel time, or is it more about passenger comfort?

The terminal's capacity for 340 buses and 62 air conditioners sounds great, yet uptime and maintenance costs could be challenging.

I worry this could become another underutilized facility if passenger numbers don't match its scale.

Local transport unions should coordinate schedules to maximize terminal usage and reduce waiting times for passengers.
