NUJ Chapel Threatens Blacklist Over Senator Eze’s Alleged Attack on Ebonyi Journalists
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ebonyi Correspondents’ Chapel has condemned the alleged assault on its state chairman, Comrade Samson Nwafor, and other reporters during the Ebonyi Central senatorial primary in Onueke by Senator Kenneth Eze, his aides and political thugs. The chapel has demanded a public apology from the senator within 24 hours or face a complete media blackout. They also warned that any harm to journalists who report on the incident would be the responsibility of Senator Eze, his aides and the individual accused of issuing threats. In addition, the group has urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to remove Eze from his position as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation. The chapel noted that this follows a similar heated exchange involving the senator less than a month ago.
