Nollywood Star Angela Okorie Cleared as Defamation Case Withdrawn

The Federal High Court in Abuja has discharged actress Angela Okorie and struck out the defamation suit brought against her. The police had accused Okorie of cyberbullying colleague Mercy Johnson-Okojie. They alleged she called the actress a “blood sucking demon” on Instagram and TikTok. Okorie was admitted to N5 million bail on related cybercrime counts in late January. This week, the police withdrew the charge under Section 108 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, saying the parties had settled their dispute. Justice Emeka Nwite then formally discharged Okorie and struck out the case.
