Akwa Ibom Pastor Sentenced to 49 Years for Incest and Rape of Daughter
An Akwa Ibom High Court in Uyo has jailed a local pastor for 49 years after finding him guilty of repeatedly raping and impregnating his teenage daughter. According to the judgment delivered on June 10, 2026, Apostle Williams Okon Bassey of Mount Zion Lighthouse Full Gospel Church was arrested in November 2019 alongside four other men facing rape and incest charges. The victim testified that the abuse began when she was 13. Her father impregnated her three times, and each pregnancy was terminated by her mother. The original poster questioned why the mother was not also charged for facilitating the abortions.
