Bishops Clash with Pastor Adeboye over Marriage Advice on Cooking Skills
Bishops under the Ecumenical Synods of Bishops, Archbishops, Apostles and Senior Clergy have challenged Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s warning that men should not marry women who cannot cook. They say his view is an opinion, not a scriptural mandate. During the May Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye urged young men to value spiritual discernment and domestic competence over beauty and social status. He warned that marrying for looks alone could be a “deep trap” and cited biblical examples of hospitable cooks. Archbishop Osazee William of the International Fellowship of Ecumenical Ministries countered that cooking skills can be acquired. He argued that character, values and broader qualities matter more in marriage decisions than a bride’s domestic ability. Adeboye also advised men to avoid wedding plans that lead to debt and cautioned against excessive use of cosmetics, urging caution about outward appearances.
