Enyimba Coach Dismisses Relegation Talk as ‘A Joke’ After 3-0 Katsina United Win

Enyimba Coach Dismisses Relegation Talk as ‘A Joke’ After 3-0 Katsina United Win

Enyimba head coach Emmanuel “Deutsch” Gustavo insists his side are nowhere near a relegation battle after their convincing 3-0 victory over Katsina United in Aba. Stanley Dimgba opened the scoring in the 23rd minute and youngster Chidera Michael doubled the lead before half-time. Womah Wilson Eba put the result beyond doubt with a fine finish late on, lifting Enyimba to 12th place on 43 points. Deutsch praised the character of his players and singled out goalkeeper Kelvin Ogunga for a crucial penalty save. The Cameroonian tactician branded all talk of relegation “a joke” and warned there is no room for complacency with four matches remaining. He highlighted the upcoming Oriental Derby against Rangers as another tough test. Responding to suggestions that playing behind closed doors might help his side, Deutsch said there is no real advantage without fans, stressing that Enyimba must focus on their game regardless of the atmosphere.

It's encouraging, but one impressive scoreline doesn't guarantee consistent title challenge throughout the season.

Hard to dismiss chatter about relegation so easily when any team can slip later in the season, regardless of one big win.
