US-Based Doctor Champions Free Monthly Health Outreach in Awka
A US-based Nigerian physician, Dr. Tochukwu Agbata Uyanwune, is leading a free medical outreach in Awka to tackle chronic illnesses like diabetes and high blood pressure. The programme began in 2017 under the Awka Union USA/Canada Medical Mission. After the passing of his father, the family set up the Professor Anthony Ikechukwu Agbata Health Foundation to sustain regular support. Each session runs on the last Saturday of every month at Udora Memorial Hospital in Ezi Umuonaga Village from 9 AM to 5 PM. Doctors, nurses and pharmacists provide screenings, advice and education on managing long-term conditions. Dr. Uyanwune urges residents to continue treatment even after the team departs. “This is our way of helping people live healthier lives,” he says.
