OCHA Brigade Evicts Street Traders in Anambra Market Clean-Up
Scores of street traders abandoned their goods when the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) team launched a fresh enforcement sweep across markets in Ogidi, Afor Igwe Umunnachi, Oye Agu Abagana and Nkpor. Officials dismantled illegal stalls, cleared blockages from roads and walkways, and seized items displayed on unauthorized spaces. They also demolished makeshift shanties along roadsides, citing safety hazards and environmental concerns. The brigade said the exercise is part of Anambra State’s plan to restore order and improve public hygiene. Traders were warned to confine their activities to designated markets or face penalties under state regulations. Residents were urged to support the drive by complying with environmental rules to help build cleaner, safer communities across the state.
